Can my 4 year old wrestle in the Elementary Class if she will turn 5 this month?
No. She must turn 5 prior to starting class.

Does my wrestler need a USA Wrestling Card even though we have insurance?
Yes, your wrestler will need a USA Wrestling Card regardless. It protects the academy from a liability standpoint. Memberships can be purchased here: https://www.usawmembership.com/memberships

Does my wrestler need to compete in tournaments?
It depends on the age. For wrestlers 8 and under, we recommend no competition until they have at least a year or two of training in. As they gain more confidence we will see their readiness to compete.

Would my wrestler be expected to lose weight?
NO! Especially at the youth level. The High School level wrestlers are more disciplined about diet and mindful of their weight on day of weigh in. But doing so in a safe manner.

I hear wrestlers contract skin infections like staph and ring worm. Is this a concern?
Like all contact sports, wrestling does have a risk of contracting skin infections. We take cleanliness very serious. We wash the mats daily, require our wrestlers to sanitize shoes prior to stepping on the mats, require our wrestlers to shower after training and wash there work out gear. Our coaches have a great eye in catching skin infections in order to deal with them early.
